My mother, Patricia May Mitchell (adopted name Genevieve Daves) was born in Wichita, KS to Marie Mitchell, dau of Laura Mitchell. Six months later, she was placed in guardianship to the Kansas Children's Homein Topeka, Shawnee Co. (Now Kansas Children's Service League)by the Sedgwick Co. Court. She was subsequently adopted by the Daves family of Winfield, Cowley County, granted by the Shawnee Co. Court in Nov. 1924. I am trying to find the family of Marie Mitchell, my grandmother. She was a telephone operator in Dodge City, KS before she gave birth at the age of 18 to Particia May Mitchell in Wichita at the Salvation Army Home. |
