Other Info Birth mother relinquished when to Children's Home Society in Los Angeles until Dec 12, 1940 when Mary Elizabeth was placed with Ernest and Madeleine Read in Santa Barbara, CA. Final adoption was granted by Superior Court in Santa Barbara, CA Dec 23, 1941. Children's Home Society has provided non-identifying information. Birth Mother born in Texas and was Catholic; she was 20 at time of birth; Birth Father was 20 at time of birth; he was born in Missouri and was Catholic and of Caucasian and Spanish. According to records, he unsuccessfully attempted to get custody of Mary Elizabeth prior to adoption. Desperately need information for personal and health reasons.
