- Other Information This baby was born to Gertrude Maureen Smith (b.1932) We think the baby was born 1951 or early 1952. The birth mother was forced to give the baby up for adoption by her father, Sam Smith. After the birth, mother returned home to Manitoba, Canada. We are told that the birth father was in the Navy. We were told that the baby was adopted privately by a wealthy doctor or a lawyer. The grandfather(Sam)stayed in California. He lived in/near LA or possibly Inglewood or Long Beach and we think he worked for the Examiner. Birth Mother has passed, but birth sister is looking for her.
