I was adopted by Alice Lee and Don Brown on February 5, 1976; at that time, they resided in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. They flew up to Childrens' Village, in Fargo, to get me, after three long years of waiting to adopt! I was flown back on a Bonanza "puddle jumper" (where I received my first baby bottle!) to Williston, North Dakota, where my grandmother lived. We stayed here for two weeks; my adoptive parents, grandmother, godparents, and family friends helped to care for me. Then, I went back home with my adoptive parents, to our house in Upper Marlboro. We lived in a couple of different houses there, until I was six. Then, we moved to Tipp City, OH (near Dayton). My adoptive father was in the Air Force, and wanted to transfer from Andrews Air Force Base to Wright Patterson Air Force Base (Fairborn, OH), because of a job promotion. He was a major in the Air Force before he retired (1986?). My adoptive mother was a homemaker--and primary caregiver to me!!!--before she went back to school to get her masters' in Elementary Education. (This occurred, after my adoptive parents divorced in 1985). I continued to live with my mother. My mother became a kindergarten teacher; she now lives in Missoula, MT, (her college town!) where she wants to permanetly reside, and further her career. As mentioned earlier, my father, stepmother, and half-brother live in Cincinnati, OH. I live in Billings, MT, where I originally came for college. As also mentioned previously, I'm almost done--I'll graduate in December. I live in an off-campus apartment a couple of miles from campus, in the central part of Billings' West End. I have always wanted to locate my birth family (without any grief to them!) and hope that someone related to me is reading this with interest! If someone is, I want to thank them for giving me a chance at a better life!

My mother was nineteen when she had me. She grew up on a farm in the Bismarck/Mandahn area. She was a "B" student, and a cheerleader in high school. She was "5'7" inches tall. She tried pot a couple of times, but didn't have any drug/alcohol problems. As far as I know, I was her first child. Her grandmother died of a heart attack; she was in her eighties when that happened. |
