At birth I weighed 7lbs.1and 1/2 ozs. and was 21 inches in length. Normal/full term delivery.
My birth mother was 17 when I was born. She was born in the United States of Italian parentage, one of four children. She completed the 9th grade in school and worked as a salesgirl. She was 5'5" tall and 128 lbs. She had brown hair, brown eyes, and a light olive complexion.
My alleged father was 22 years old at the time of my birth. He was born in the United States of Italian-American parentage. When my mother met him he had recently been discharged from the army and was unemployeed. He was 5'11" tall and had dark, blond hair and blue eyes.
My birth parents met at a party and dated for several weeks. They were intimate only once, to which my mother consented because she thought they were going to be married. My alleged father promised financial assistance but it never materialized.
My mother spent several weeks in a maternity shelter. While there she decided that the only plan she could make for me was adoption. She lived with her parents but only her mother knew of her pregnancy. Her father had a serious heart condition and they felt the knowledge of her pregnancy would upset him so as to threaten his life.
I was admitted to the New York Foundling Hospital on January 10, 1948. As soon as I was approved physically and developmentally for adoption, my mother signed a surrender on January 15, 1948. I was received by my adoptive parents on April 26, 1948 and was legally adopted on May 3, 1949. |
