Other Info Peter Quincy Novak and Marie Vyrna Novak adopted this boy, when he was less than a year old (by April of 1945). They chose him because he had a "cross-eye" - they knew they could afford the surgery he would need (and did have) to correct it. Furthermore, Peter Quincy Novak was elected alderman of a West Side ward in Chicago. James was orphaned again, by the mid sixties. Both of his adoptive parents died by the time he was 18. He lived on North Avenue in Chicago, near Laramie. James knows his adoption was handled by Catholic Charities in Chicago. But he does not have access to many documents related to his birth, nor adoption. His adoptive parents were members of Saint Peter Canisius Parish. His only other blood-relatives are his son & daughter and their respective children.
