Birth mother and I named our daughter Michele Annette. She was born Oct 22 of 1984 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria IL. Birth parents were seniors in highschool and chose adoption. We corresponded briefly with the adoptive parents who told us they renamed our girl Danielle Lee. They used the name, "our little girl" when they could no longer use her name. This was arranged through the Catholic Social Service in Peoria. |

Chrissy was a gymnast and very dedicated to academics. She was an honor student. She was a very decent and good person. She was the sweetest person I had ever met in my life. We started dating at 15 years old. We dated through the summer after our graduation from high school. Our daughter was born before graduation, in October of 1984. Chrissy went on to Miliken University in Decatur IL where she met her husband. I lost track of her about 10 years ago. So I don't know if she is stil married of if she had any more children. She has family in Yakima, in the state of Washington. Her mother is still in the Peoria Area, I believe. She has two brothers. |

I have a family now and have recently returned to Peoria. I cannot speak for the birthmother regarding a desire to reunite with our daughter. We have not been in contact with each other for several years--after we both married. Birthmother and Birthfather were highschool sweethearts and very much in love. But we knew that the odds of a permanent relationship was slim. We didn't want to try to raise a child as highschoolers with an uncertain future together. We turned to our faith and the Catholic Social Service. We prayed that this was the best decision to give our daughter a chance at a healthy (emotionally, physically, and spiritually) life. Sure enough, Birth mom and I split up after high school. We remained friends but as we started our own families it became unhealthy to try to maintain a relationship. Our spouses know that we shared a birth experience and that makes for a difficult situation as it is. To remain friends with each other would put a strain on our marriages and so we decided to just end our contact. My daughter should be 18 years old Oct 2002. I would like very much to hear from her. I still feel saddened at not being able to know her and to watch her grow up. I am a dedicated father. I am sad that I couldn't be dedicated to my first born. I didn't know how and probably was not capable of doing it properly. God Bless. |
