This was an open adoption. The other parents, Mark and Connie, were friends of mine and they couldn't have another child. I already had a daughter and decided that Mark and Connie could give my son a better life. We opted for the open adoption even though it ended a close friendship between my mother and her best friends. I only have Patrick's birth pictures and I promised I would stay away until the time that Patrick wanted (if) to meet me. They promised me to tell Patrick he was adopted from the very start. He is truly a loved young man. |
