Melissa was adopted about 2 years before our mother's death of kidney disease. Our mother spent the last few years of her life in Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Vincennes, IN. I last saw Melissa in the foster home of Pat and Mary Kelly in Johnsonville, IL. She and my sister Donna were left there when I was moved to another foster home in Olney, IL. Melissa was protected from her father, Elmer York Sr. when he was convicted of rape and child abuse by being put in foster care. The case was handled by DCFS in Olney, IL. Records were later transferred and lost in Mt. Vernon, IL. My greatest wish is to know that Melissa is well and happy. I would like for her to know that she was loved as if she were mine. I pray for you often. |

Melissa was adopted about a year before our mother's death of kidney disease. Her adoption was initiated by DFS in Olney, ILL. The last time I saw her was when I was removed from the foster home of Pat and Mary Kelly in Johnsonville, IL. She and my sister Donna remained and I was told 6 months later that she was adopted. Our step-father, her birth father, Elmer York Sr. was convicted of 3 counts of rape and child abuse in Lawrenceville, IL. I am trying to locate her to let her know that she was loved and cared for. So much of what I did was to protect her from her father. He was a very sick man. Robert and I had a falling out concerning his leave status in 1977. I lived in Olney, IL in a house in an alley and was attending Olney Central College's Welding program. Much time has passed and I would like to know you are alive and well. |
